The Beacon Herald of Stratford Ontario
Montreal-based Matt Lipscombe first honed his craft with the band Me Mom and Morgentaler. The folk, singer-songwriter has gone solo and released Folk Tales,an album that draws on his appreciation of the likes of Paul Simon and Ben Harper. But you can also hear hints of the Jack Johnson sound.Good songs, quality musicianship and pleasing vocals may make Lipscombe a national star instead of a local one.The album’s strongest tracks are the bluesy Mexico City Subway Song and the Dylanesque Leaves In Fall.
