Matt Lipscombe is as Montreal as Montreal gets. Onetime bassist for Me, Mom & Morgentaler, he’s been plugging away at a long, winding, deep folk tunnel since the dissolution of said ska new wavers, handling his own songwriting, acoustic guitar, bass and vocal duties. Folk Tales aptly sums up his most recent full-length, songs from this city in the keys of pop, mellowed blues, jazz and country. Guests include Patrick Watson, Becky Foon and Creature’s Sid Zanforlin. 3.5 stars.
